woodbadge?..... seriously?

Ok, we have never been should we say: scouting enthusiasts? We think scouts is great and that the boys learn so much from being a part of it, but have never imagined ourselves going to woodbadge. it's like: we really like the star wars movies but don't dress up and go to conventions... does that make sense? Anyway, we were not very excited when a visiting authority "suggested" Ty go to woodbadge. But... we want to be obedient, so what do ya do? Anyway, we decided to just make it our family vacation for the year and do the family camp so that we didn't have to have Ty take a week off work and not get to see him. Boy were we in for a surprise. Tyler was amazed at how wonderful the training was. We didn't see him a ton, but we spent some quality time at meals and got to go canoeing and fishing etc. He learned so much and now is a huge woodbadge promoter in our stake. i met some really nice spouses and got to go rappelling, horsebackriding, waterskiing, building rockets, swimming, sailing, river rafting, canoeing, shooting (rifles & bows) etc. Can you believe all that in one week? Our kids had so much fun! Paces group filled a tent with shaving cream and played in it! They all made cool crafts and hiked and canoed and swam etc. Cort even got 3 merit badges. Needless to say, We vote YES on family camp if you are thinking about it. We could have done without all the irritating songs though....... but it's all part of the experience i guess!

nice pit!!! glad it's not a close up since i haven't showered!

Trey's group was called the Tiger knights! they made fluorescent swords and ran around yelling!
underground cave we rappelled down to.
