Oh, what fun updates! The post about Daph cracked me up... Cori adds "or something" to everything as well- I thought it was so funny I wrote about it on my blog a while back too :)
Darling fam. Stace, and congrats on the house... it is looking beautiful.
Ty and I have been married for 13 years. We have 5 kids! Cort is 12, Gretel 10, Trey 7, Pace 5, and Daphne almost 3. Ty is a family practice doc. and I get to be home with the kiddos! I also do Mary Kay (but no parties!) Life is terrific and I love it!
Instead of a Christmas letter from now on, I just direct people to the blog. At least you followers of my blog know I will update it once a year! i think i did about 20 new posts so go back to older ones to your hearts content until you are so sick of the Dixons you can wait until next year. (unless i get better and start posting more!) Our big news for this year will hopefully be that we move into our dream house. It is already 2 months past the "worst case scenario" so we shall see! Meanwhile, my kind parents have kindly extended the "one month" we told them we would live with them since we sold our old house. Our new house is located in the beautiful city of Farr West in a fun little horse property cul-de-sac called Heritage Ranch. (We don't have, or plan to get horses, but we have a goat named Scoundrel!) Hello to all who visit and hope this finds you well and happy! Love- Stace.
Let's begin with Ty
Ty is still in the Stake presidency and it is great. He is over most of the things that pertain to the youth and as you probably know, he is so good with the youngsters! He works so hard and is continually changing his schedule to try and fit in more time with family. Ty has always wanted to do private practice and this year his dream job was offered to him. To those of you who are thinking, "how unwise to start a new job and build a house at the same time," you are right! It has been difficult, but we could not pass up this amazing job. Going without income for a few months reminded us a little of residency! :) All should be back to normal by his year mark in July. He went into business with a Doc. who will retire in approx. two years and the other in about five. After that he will take on a partner. We feel so blessed!
Stace.
Designing a new home is so fun! It is also the most stressful thing I have ever done and takes up much of my time. I pity my poor kids and husband! :) It is turning out so great though and we can't wait to move in! For the rest of my doings I should just say: same same! Still selling Mary Kay (by word of mouth.. no parties allowed) Vocal lessons are on hold because of time constraints of the house, but golf is not! I got new clubs and can't wait to try them out as soon as the snow melts. The christmas singing group is also something I can't put on hold house or no house... seeing the cheered up faces of the people in the care centers is certainly worth the stress and the ladies I sing with are the neatest around! I love my life and need to take more time to see the joy around me instead of just rushing from thing to thing STRESSED all the time! :)
Ace
Cort
Cortie- I mean Ace
Cortie got elected a 7th grade officer and is getting wonderful grades and having a blast in Jr. high. He doesn't care what anyone thinks of him and goes around asking people if they want to be his friend! What a cutie! He also tried out for and made chamber choir and the school play as the caterpillar (play: alice in wonderland) He is playing D1 comp soccer which is a great place for him. He has discovered girls and has gone through (i think) 3 girlfriends this year so far. :) I am so glad he will talk to us about everything. He is getting close to passing me up on the piano. Also, he and I are good golfing partners and ping-pong opponents because our skill levels are so similar. Still working on a few attitude and responsibility things, but overall a great kid and we are so proud of him!
Her nickname Gretelbelle evolved into Bella
Bella means beautiful in Portugese
Gretel Kate
It is so awesome to have live-in babysitters! Cort has the age to make it legal and Gretel takes care of the kids! :) Often i have to remind her to let me be the mom so she can enjoy being a kid. She is so good at seeing the needs of the younger kids and wanting to help them. She will be the most sought-after babysitter around in a couple of years! She is so excited about the playhouse in our new basement and still loves to pretend. She surprised us all by choosing comp soccer over dance and is now playing for SWAT. Her team took first place in the Cache cup and did well all around this season in the x-league. She is growing up too fast for me and thinks I'm a nerd a lot of the time, but tries not to let it show! Bella is still my snuggliest kid and loves to hug us! It's the best! She is also the only one in the family who is fun to show stuff about the house to because she really gives her opinion and really thinks it is fun. She loves to get involved in anything I will let her do with me and instantly jumps in with suggestions. She is so sweet and thoughtful! I couldn't ask for a better daughter!
T-bone
He prefers we call him Husky Rat!
Trey-boy
Trey earned his yellow belt in Karate and still loves it! He got sparring equipment for christmas and it is so fun to go watch him. He wants to be noticed by Cort and be like him.. but doesn't want Cort to know, so he annoys Cort like crazy and they fight all the time! We are learning about negative and positive attention :) We are so thankful that he still shows no symptoms of his condition and know it is a miracle from Heaven! He is experiencing some middle child syndrom and is trying different things (karate etc.) to set him appart from the other kids. He jumped right in to the new school (our new house is 3 minutes away from the old one, but it changed the kids elementary school) and loved it. He immediately made tons of new friends and found a new girlfriend. :) Out with the old, in with the new! He is so cute with Daphne and is the most willing "Prince Charming" in the family! Trey boy warms my heart and I am so glad to be his mom!
PD
wants to be a reindeer when he grows up! oh! and a racecar driver
Pacers
PD (pace dixon) is a wild child... still. Everyone laughs when he goes by because he always has something funny to say with his crazy facial expressions. He still says he hates "grils" but freaks out when one little girl comes over and says, "oh my heck, my girlfriend is here!" He refused to sit by his primary teachers, so thankfully, his new one is a man. On the first day in the new ward he came flying up to me after church shouting, "My new teacher is a boy and he's funny like me!" He is so accident prone and I think he is still here just by the grace of God. It doesn't help that he is always climbing up things, jumping on and over things and running at full speed! He doesn't mind giving me kisses on the cheek, but I can only give him one if I'm not wearing lipgloss. When I go in for the kiss, he always grabs my face and asks "are you wearing lipgloss?" He is such a loose cannon and I'm not sure I understand him... :) But he is so FUN and loving and definately makes life more interesting!
Daphne Anne
Daffodill.. I should have taken a pic. of this hair-do... before she went to church! She stood in front of the mirror forever just swaying with hands on hips saying: Pincess hair... pincess hair1
Baby Girl
What can i say? She is such a princess! Daph doesn't even need real clothes because the instant she wakes up she sheds her jammies (sometimes before even turning on the light) and puts on a princess dress and "her sandalls" which are the plastic high heels that go with the selected dress. Potty training has not been great because I haven't pushed it with all the house business and craziness. She is finally getting it though.. thank goodness. That is something i will NEVER miss about having little babes. Since seeing the movie "Tangled" she calls me mother instead of mom. I thought it would wear off, but it's been over a year! More than mother though, I am flounder from the little mermaid or velma from scooby doo.. so she can be "the real daphne from scooby scooby doo." She likes to add "or something" on the end of many of her sentences. "Are we going to go somewhere or something?" "Is it lunchtime or something?" etc. The love of her life is still lipgloss and her favorite thing is when one of the boys will be prince charming and play with her. She also loves to watch "Rudie (Beauty) and the Beast" and "Shakin' Bootie" (Sleeping Beauty) Kissing is her favorite thing to do, and sometimes I have to pry her off my face! :) should i be worried? :)
Daph really did make the perfect Cinderella!! And I love the "crazed tinkerbell!"
