karate tournament!

T-bone got to participate in his first karate tournament just before he got his orange belt this year.  It was so much fun!  He competed in "forms" (there is a form you learn for each belt, kind of like a routine for those who don't know :) "sparring" (you score points for tapping your opponent in different places- fighting but softly! :)  "flag sparring" (basically just trying to keep away from the other person so they can't get your flag- without going out of the ring) and "padded weapons" (they stick cut off swimming noodles on the ends of pvc -what it looks like :) and they try to tag each other like sparring) 

 

 Trey did so well!  He won first place in sparring, forms, and padded weapons and third place in sparring.  Yay, the "trophies" were real katana swords- longer the higher you placed- they are hidden in the pantry so no one gets killed!  :) he is allowed to get them out to look at or show people with an adult standing next to him!  ha!
